After all the activities with Felipes family in the weekend Esben woke up Monday morning feeling sick. So I left him and went with Paula to her work in Heredia. Paula has he own company, that makes all kinds of vegetable purees. One of her biggest clients is Heinz Tomato Ketchup buying puree of onions for their ketchup.
The small factory is placed in the beautiful nature
Right now it is season for onions
Inside the factor they were making puree of garlic (left picture), and after that the purees are packed into big white plastic buckets ready for distribution (right picture).
Behind the factory Paulas father had a small farm producing cheese. The cheese was amazing, and we ate a lot during our stay. Thank you Paula .
This was Paulas dads house in the mountains and the view from the house – amazing!
When we came back home Esben was not feeling better, and he was in bed for 4 days with fever getting antibiotics for an bacterial infection. Paula was a big help and she took Esben to the doctor. I have never seen Esben so sick from fever, he almost could not stand on his own legs. Felipes family was the best, and we appreciate all their help, family dinners, all the activities and the hospitality. One thing to all of you out there: “keep your doors open for people who travel, and help where help is needed”.
After 5 days in bed Esben was ready to get back on the motorcycle, though he was still tired and on antibiotics. One of the last days Felipes family took s to a view point over San Jose.
We enjoyed to sunset and the cool wind. Here in Costa Rica the temperature gets lower in for mountains abut 10-13 Celsius, around 20 Celsius in San Jose and 27-30 Celsius at the beach. The temperature in Costa Rica is 22-27 Celsius year around, but the drop dramatically when you enter the mountains and go up in elevation.
