We visited Reserva Nacional Altos de Lircay, where we had planned to do a full-day hike to the plateau “Enladrillado”
As you can see on the picture there was still some snow left, so it was not possible to do a loop, which continues from the “Enladrillado” to the laguna on the way back. So we had to go the same way back as we came up.
We were doing great on the way up, and reached “Enladrillado” after 13,5 km in an elevation of 2450 meters.
In total we climbed 1250 meters in elevation

This was our first long hike in a very long time. Can’t really remember when we last time hiked more than 20 km. Still thinking that it would be easy to go back, because it was pretty much just down hill all the way.
It was a very beautiful hike, and we really liked the trail… but doing more than 20 km was just too much for us, because we are not in a good enough physical shape to walk that far – YET!
With very tired legs and feet we made it back down, where Lance was waiting for us. I think he was a little worried… We had a cup of wine and a good meal. In the right picture I am making pickled vegetables, at great way to use vegetables so they don’t go bad, and it is always easy to add pickled vegetables for lunch or dinner. It also adds a sour and sweets flavor to the food.
A “rent-a-dog” was around, and Esben feed the dog some dog biscuits, that we always keep in the glove compartment
The next day we were still tired after the long hike, and decided to stay an extra day. Esben took a nap, while I was relaxing with a new episode of “The Danish bakeoff” (In Danish: “Den store bagedyst”).
It was the right thing to do, to spend an extra day. We usually say, that we take a day off, but in reality, we use the day to organize and edit pictures, making post for the blog, fill up water, taking a bucket shower and taking care of Lance. This time Lance had a flat tire – our first flat tire! Esben put the spare wheel on. The next day we left “Altos de Lircay” and stopped at a small “Vulcanizado”, where a man repaired the tire.
Back on the road, which quickly turned in to gravel we were on our way to the next nature adventure!
Next stop Laguna del Lajas National Park, which is home to the volcano Antuco (2980 meters)
