Mi Teleferico is a new public transport system, a cable car network providing fast and and reliable transport in the city of La Paz and El Alto. The teleférico does not only reduce commute time, it also reduces the amount of smog pollution in the city. The hole system runs on electricity, part of which is provided through solar power (Source. http://www.lapazlife.com/the-worlds-highest-cable-car-ride/).
As of July 2018, the system consists of 22 stations along seven lines: Red, Yellow, Green, Blue, Orange, White, and Sky Blue. Another four lines are in planning or construction: Purple, Brown, Silver, and Gold. Upon the completion of the 10-kilometre (6.2 mi) Phase One (Red, Yellow, and Green Lines) in 2014, the system was considered to be the longest aerial cable car system in the world. Based on its master plan, the completed system, which is being built by the Doppelmayr Garaventa Group, is intended to reach a length of 33.8 km (21.0 mi) with 11 lines and 30 stations.
The teleférico cuts distance, and avoid traffic, which is amazing. BUT, the best part is watching the city from above

North of La Paz is where the mountain range “Cordrillera Real” is located, with snow covered peaks, they create an amazing background for La Paz. It is time to go hiking, but first more about the preparations for our 12-15 day hike in the Cordrillera Real in the next post.
